Why do many prayers go unanswered?

Different Response… But Answered

Prayer can take many forms including Intercession, Adoration, Thanksgiving and Praise. This question seemingly applies to intercessory prayer. It’s always important to remember that such prayer is not about changing or influencing God but about changing us.

Intercessory Prayer expresses our dependence on God and helps us recognize God’s intervention when and how God wishes to respond. God knows what we need before we ask … and God knows what is best for our eternal salvation. Just as parents don’t always give their children what they ask for (especially when it is not in their best interest), so God does not always grant our requests.

Jesus practiced intercessory prayer and ended with the phrase, “Not my will, but Your will be done” (Luke 22:42). Therefore, the ultimate intercessory prayer is for us to recognize and embrace the will of the Father while asking for the Holy Spirit (Luke 11:13).
