The Will of God

The short answer to this question is that everything known to exist comes from God who created all things out of nothing. God himself is not a part of the created order but exists above and beyond both space and time. All creation is continuously sustained by the all-powerful divine creative intention.

Having said that, it should be noted that the way in which God created the universe is increasingly understood through the natural and astronomical sciences.

Geology traces the development of the earth over the past 4.5 billion years while paleontology traces the development and evolution of life forms over the past 3.7 billion years. The evolution of life culminated in the phenomenon of humans who are created in the image and likeness of God with immortal souls. The astronomical sciences trace the origin and continuing development of the universe from the “Big Bang” approximately 14 billion years ago.
