When do you feel closest to God?

In the Sacrifice of the Mass

Catholics (along with many other Christian Confessions), believe that the Mass, or the Lord’s Supper, was established by Jesus at the Last Supper, and so is the privileged place of encounter with God. Naturally, I feel closest to God when I celebrate the Mass.

Each moment of the Mass offers me a unique encounter with God. I recognize my personal need for Him in the introductory rites. I listen to Him speak to me through the scriptures in the Liturgy of the Word. I offer Him my life with the gifts of bread and wine at the Offertory. Through these mysteries, I participate in the one sacrifice of the Son to the Father. Finally, I am brought into union with Jesus by receiving Him in the Eucharist, being conformed to the reality that I receive.

In the Mass, I encounter God on His terms and experience His presence most profoundly.
