Male and Female He Created Them
The Catholic Church believes that our identity is received as a gift from God and that includes the identity expressed in our physical bodies. Rather than seeing the human body as a screen on which we create our own identity, the Church sees it as a window into the profound reality of the person who is objectively male or female.
It is through our bodies that we give ourselves as gifts to others. As such our sex and our gender are always relational. Every human person is created in love and for love but the effect of sin sometimes distorts our sense of self and our understanding of how to love. That is why we need the healing revelation of Christ to know who we truly are and who we are called to be.
Those persons suffering from gender dysphoria should be loved with respect, compassion and sensitivity.
