What would you tell religious people about alcohol consumption?

All Things In Moderation

Alcohol consumption can cause safety and health concerns especially when it becomes excessive or incongruous with a person’s responsibilities.

The moral axiom “all things in moderation” has been used as a guiding principle since the time of Homer. This principle not only governs the quantity but also the settings in which one participates and has been historically used in Christian ethical discernment as well. It should be noted that there are limits to this principle and that it is not applicable for every issue.

It can be sinful to place one’s self or others in danger of either physical or other harm. Certainly any alcohol consumption that creates such a danger is to be avoided by all people but especially by people of serious faith since they believe that they have a special responsibility to be good stewards of their own lives and the lives of others.
