Although God possesses a variety of perfect qualities, I consider Love to be the most appealing. The love of God is more than emotional sentiment. God’s love is known through God’s actions, especially that of giving and sending his Son, Jesus.
The Gospel of John presents Jesus as the Word whose mission is to make God known in the world so that all who believe in him may have eternal life. To make God known, Jesus had to make Love known since God is love. That is why the Cross is the great moment of his exaltation and revelation as he perfects his mission by revealing the depth of God’s love for every human being and offers us salvation, forgiveness, mercy, life and communion.
Accepting this gift of God’s love is not a passive action but one that always empowers us to be active conduits of that love to others.
