What are the sexual ethics of your religion?

Holy and Good Human Sexuality

Catholic sexual ethics is based in Natural Law, Scripture and Tradition. Accordingly, the Church teaches that sexual intercourse has a divinely intended purpose that is both unitive and procreative. This deep unity of persons is more than just physical union and leads to a oneness of heart and soul. There is a sacred aspect to this union since the marriage bond itself is a sign of the love between God and his people.

Actions which separate the unitive or prevent the procreative aspects are considered contrary to the Divine intention and diminish the goodness of human sexuality.

Sexual expressions outside of a conjugal relationship (whether alone or with another person or through the use of pornography, sexting, etc.) are considered sins against chastity. There can be mitigating circumstances or factors that diminish the culpability and seriousness of these offenses.

Virtue is needed to care for this beautiful and powerful gift.
