Holy and Good Human Sexuality
Catholic sexual ethics is based in Natural Law, Scripture and Tradition. Accordingly, the Church teaches that sexual intercourse has a divinely intended purpose that is both unitive and procreative. This deep unity of persons is more than just physical union and leads to a oneness of heart and soul. There is a sacred aspect to this union since the marriage bond itself is a sign of the love between God and his people.
Actions which separate the unitive or prevent the procreative aspects are considered contrary to the Divine intention and diminish the goodness of human sexuality.
