Fifty women from across the Diocese and outside the Catholic church attended the Women’s Retreat.  Hosted by St. Al’s GALS (Giving And Loving Service), the retreat provided women with a beautiful experience and a chance to discover and learn more about a handful of the most courageous and memorable women in the bible. The retreat gave women time to reflect on their own lives and dedicate a few hours for themselves, to be with Jesus. The women received a safe space to learn and share, but also were given gifts to journal, pray to remind themselves of the great love of Jesus shares. 

Led by Mel Kennedy, a parishioner at Saint Teresa of Avila, the women spent the day, learning the messages in the bible represented by the women that inspire us: Deborah, Ruth, Miriam, Mary Magdelene, Hannah and Esther. There was time to pray, sing, share, create fellowship with attendees, and enjoy breakfast and a soup and salad buffet for lunch. 

Along with an in-depth discussion of each of the women in the Bible, the St. Al’s GALS did portrayals of the women as they were talking to the attendees. There was an interesting mix of discussion, changing tables and other activities that made the retreat both interactive and engaging.
