Five Scouts from the Diocese of Reno started their Ad Altare Dei class in May of 2023. This is a Scout Religious Emblem issued by the National Catholic Committee for Scouting.
The Scouts recently completed and passed their Boards of Review. The class usually takes 6-7 months to complete. The AAD class outline is attached below.
Three Scouts from Wisconsin – Archdiocese of Kalamazoo – joined the class, due to the class not being available in their home Diocese. One has completed and passed his review.
The AAD Emblem was taught by Malia O’Brien from Minden, using Zoom and an electronic assignment book. To be a qualified Counselor, Malia participated in a class taught by the Catholic Committee on Scouting – Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Malia will soon be taking the Pope Pius XII Facilitator Training in July and starting a class this Fall.
A second adult, Joe McCoy, will also take the classes, become a certified Counselor, and assist in future classes.
Scouts who earn their AAD or Pope Pius Emblem, along with earning their highest advancement rank, can qualify to apply for college scholarships.
Scouts who earned their AAD Religious Emblem are:
