Summary: Eucharistic Pilgrimage Journey Through Diocese of Reno May 24-26, 2024

The National Eucharistic Pilgrimage journeyed through the diocese this past weekend in celebration of the last phase of the two-year Eucharistic Revival period. There were many beautiful, spiritual moments and the sacred experience touched the hearts across the diocese.

The journey began on Friday May 24th, with departure from St. Theresa in South Lake Tahoe of the Diocese of Sacramento. The Eucharistic Pilgrimage crossed by boat on Lake Tahoe to Incline Village, where the Diocese of Reno welcomed them with a walk and procession, followed by a Mass at St. Francis of Assisi.

On Saturday May 25th, Bishop Mueggenborg welcomed the pilgrims to Our Lady of Wisdom Newman Center, where Mass by visiting priest Father Leo Petalinghug (Plating Grace: award winning chef, speaker and author) was held. Following the Mass, Father Leo led a talk with an interactive cooking demonstration, sharing his culinary expertise, aligned with his passion for the Eucharist, our most sacred meal. Adoration followed.

On Sunday May 26th, the pilgrims traveled to St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral where Mass was celebrated with Bishop Mueggenborg. A procession around the cathedral followed.

The journey through the diocese concluded later in the day arriving at St. Paul in Winnemuca, followed by a visit to Sacred Heart Mission in McDermitt where Mass and a procession was also held. In departing McDermitt, Bishop Liam Carey welcomed the pilgrimage into the Diocese of Baker, Oregon where the travel continues on.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this once in a lifetime event. The Diocese of Reno is included in national coverage in the press and we are grateful for all the photos and videos that you have submitted.

These are just a handful of the snapshots and videos from the weekend. A special thank you for photo and video contributions from Jacob Means (St. Paul and Sacred Heart Mission), Laura Fullem-Chavis, Jim Whitt and Tim Engle (St Francis of Assisi).
